Every Canadian province (with the exception of New Brunswick) has enacted legislation and regulations dealing with the reclamation and recycling processes of regulated e-waste.
The Alberta Recycling Management Authority is the not-for-profit association responsible for managing Alberta’s electronics recycling program. The organization reports to the Alberta Minister of Environmental and Sustainable Resource Development.
Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) is the not-for-profit industry organization that oversees the electronics recycling program in Ontario. This program was developed with Waste Diversion Ontario (WDO) on behalf of the Ontario government under the Ontario Waste Diversion Act. The OES program is currently operated by Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA), the not-for-profit entity that is currently responsible for managing the electronic products recycling programs in all the other provinces with such recycling programs. EPRA was established in 2011 by members of Electronics Product Stewardship Canada (EPSC) and the Retail Council of Canada (RCC).
FCM Recycling is an approved recycler of electronic products under the provincial stewardship programs in place in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and P.E.I. Through a strategic partnership, FCM Recycling is also able to provide electronic recycling services through an approved recycler under the ARMA electronics recycling program.
